Why Little Stomps?

Because every little stomp matters.

Elephants are among the most sensory-aware creatures on earth. They feel vibrations through their feet, communicate through touch and movement, and experience the world with a depth of sensitivity that is, quite simply, extraordinary. For a long time, that sensitivity was misunderstood. Now we know it's a superpower.

Many children experience the world in a similarly rich and intense way. Sounds feel louder, textures feel stronger, movement feels different. That's not something to be fixed, it's something to be understood, supported, and ultimately celebrated.

Little Stomps exists to walk alongside children and families on that journey. Steadily, patiently, and always at your child's pace.

A young woman with long dark hair, wearing a black top and gray checked pants, stands outdoors on a balcony with city buildings in the background. She is smiling and looking at the camera, with a blue sky and some clouds above.

Our Team

Khalisa Nanji

Senior Occupational Therapist

Khalisa Nanji is a Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist and the founder of Little Stomps OT. Khalisa has extensive experience working with children across all ages and a wide range of developmental, sensory, and emotional needs.

Throughout her career Khalisa has worked with children and families in paediatric clinical settings, building deep expertise in sensory integration, ADHD, autism, developmental delays, and school readiness.

Khalisa practices from a strengths-based, trauma-informed framework. This means she understands that many of the behaviours and challenges we see in children (the meltdowns, the shutdowns, the refusals, the dysregulation) are often not behavioural problems at all. They are responses. Responses to sensory overwhelm, to past experiences, to environments that don't yet make sense to them.

Trauma-informed care means she approaches every child with curiosity rather than judgement, safety before expectation, and relationship before intervention. Before a child can learn, they need to feel safe. Before they can grow, they need to feel seen. That is always where we start

She grew up in the Ivory Coast, where elephants hold a deep cultural significance - which is why one found its way into the Little Stomps logo. From there, her family moved across the world. She completed high school in Dubai, my Bachelors of Arts & Science in Canada, and my Master of Occupational Therapy here in Australia. Seven countries, countless classrooms, and a childhood spent constantly adapting to new surroundings.

Khalisa’s practice is informed by training in DIR Floortime, Sensory Integration, and Trauma-informed care.
